Nicole Troendle, M.S. CCC-SLP is the co-owner and co-founder of Atlantic Speech and Swallowing Center. She graduated from Stockton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology and received her M.S. degree in Speech Pathology at Towson University. Nicole has 15 years of experience specifically with the adult neurological population. Nicole started her career at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Sub-acute facility. There she completed her clinical fellowship working in the Dementia unit, long term care and sub-acute units. She then worked at Healthsouth Acute Rehabilitation Hospital. There she was challenged with severe brain injury patients and became a member of the behavior team. She pursued her desire to optimize recovery in this population by becoming a Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention instructor to provide staff with the skills to safely recognize and respond to everyday crisis situations.
Her most recent place of employment was Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation for 10 + years where she served in a variety of settings including; acute rehabilitation, acute care hospital, and outpatient.
At Bacharach, Nicole was promoted to Director of Speech Therapy in 2017. Her areas of expertise include cognitive and language therapy, dysphagia, head and neck cancer, performing and interpreting modified barium swallow studies, and voice. Nicole is a certified brain injury specialist and is certified in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT), Myofascial Release Therapy, and is a VitalStim Therapy provider.
Nicole has a strong passion and knowledge for working with the adult neurological population who have suffered a stroke or traumatic brain injury. Nicole takes pride in watching her patients regain the ability to communicate and getting back to doing the things they love. There is nothing more rewarding.
When Nicole is not in the clinic she enjoys time with her husband and their three children, where you can often find them enjoying a sunny day at the beach or poolside. When she is not cheering her children on at a sporting event or activity, Nicole enjoys time for herself in the gym, outdoors, or baking her favorite dessert!
Laura Gentile, M.S. CCC-SLP, is the co-owner and co-founder of Atlantic Speech and Swallowing Center. She is a certified Brain Injury Specialist proficient in planning treatment for patients with cognitive impairments – including memory, reasoning, and executive functioning. She also specializes in swallowing and feeding therapy for pediatrics and has completed 90+ hours of training in the Sequential Oral Sensory approach (SOS) to pediatric feeding.
Laura received her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Therapy from Stockton University and her Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She began her career by dedicating ten years to our public schools, providing skilled speech therapy to children attending preschool to eighth grade.
Most recently, Laura worked at Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation, which allowed her to work with a diverse client population, including acute rehabilitation, outpatient treatment for adults, and pediatrics. During her career at Bacharach, Laura worked as a member of the Bacharach Stroke Team
and has extensive experience working with patients with neurological impairments and is a certified provider of Vital Stim neuromuscular electrical stimulation for speech, voice, and swallowing impairments.
Laura’s lifelong dedication to her profession and delivering necessary care to our community is the basis of the Atlantic Speech & Swallowing Center. She believes developing deep relationships with clients and their families while striving to provide person-centered therapy for a functional treatment approach is the core foundation of a successful therapeutic program. She is passionate about developing or restoring functioning, improving the quality of life, and supporting patients and their families. Laura puts her warmth and passion into every opportunity to create functional, patient-centered goals and treatment plans unique to every patient.
Beyond her career, Laura enjoys experiencing the wonders of childhood firsthand with her three-year-old daughter. When out of the office, you can usually find her and her family off-shore, taking full advantage of the Jersey Shore life afloat on the sea.
